UK milk output revised up

The United Kingdom’s Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs has republished milk production figures for every month in 2017, showing an increase in volumes across the board.
Milk price forecast turns a corner

The AgriHQ milk price forecast for the current season has lifted just one cent to $6.10/kg milksolid (MS), the first lift recorded since October. The lift in prices at the January 2 Global Dairy Trade auction provided some support but movements in futures prices have been mixed. In the past fortnight futures contracts prices have lifted a little for whole milk powder, but skim milk powder, anhydrous milkfat and butter futures prices have eased a tad.
Fonterra slashes milk production forecast

Fonterra has dramatically cut its milk production forecast for the current season as dry conditions slow the milk supply. Fonterra now expects to collect about 4% less milk this season than was collected last season.
Milk price softens on back of weak auction results

The AgriHQ milk price forecast has fallen on the back of the weak results at the latest Global Dairy Trade (GDT) event and a price correction in futures contract trading on the NZX Dairy Derivatives market. The AgriHQ forecast for the 2017-18 season now stands at $6.09/kg MS, down nine cents from our previous forecast.
Dairy commodity prices retreat

A sharp drop in prices at the Global Dairy Trade (GDT) auction held overnight was not the result NZ farmers were looking for ahead of Christmas. The GDT Price Index fell 3.9%, its largest drop since early March.
Milk freedom costs €13.7m a day

In a paper examining the impacts of the European Union’s milk quota abolition in 2015, Dutch-based dairy consultancy Greenmark Dairy Ingredients says the cost to dairy farmers has been €19.8 million and a minimum of €116 million to the EU.
AgriHQ milk price forecast virtually stable

The AgriHQ farmgate milk price forecast for the 2017-18 season was virtually stable this week, easing just one cent following the December 5 Global Dairy Trade (GDT) event. The AgriHQ forecast is now $6.18/kg of milksolids (MS).
Fonterra cuts milk price

Fonterra has cut its farmgate milk price forecast for the 2018 season as expected, following a period of weakening prices on GDT.
NZX launches Global SMP Options contract

Today NZX Derivatives is launching a Global Skim Milk Powder (SMP) Option contract for trading, expanding its suite of dairy commodity contracts to eight contracts.
