Lamb destinations changing

The seasonal increase in lamb supply has not put any significant pressure on the global market with frozen cuts trading at prices consistent with December and prospects for the chilled European Easter trade looking favourable.

Beef exports up 29%

New Zealand beef and veal exports generated $588 million in the first quarter of the 2017-18 season, up 29% compared with the same period last season.

Disease tests start in February

The Government will launch a testing and tracing regime for Mycoplasma bovis by the end of February to provide a clearer indication of its spread and potential actions for eradication.

US beef demand holds up

Solid demand for beef in the United States is keeping the sentiment in the imported market firm early in 2018.

British lamb sales down

Last year proved extremely difficult to sell lamb at the retail level in Britain with sales volumes dropping by almost 10% in the 52 weeks ending December 13.
